About Allan

Allan Dotson lives and works on Treaty 4, in Regina. He has traveled the world as a documentary assistant director, worked as a video game tester, and was a founding member of Regina's Valuable Comics collective (2006-2014). He has created tabletop games, festival wide games, video game art, animation, murals, giant puppets, and a sitcom pilot, but his first love is comics. Allan's first graphic novel “Critters: Underdark” was published in 2019.

Allan teaches art and science for an alternative elementary school, and teaches comics drawing for the City of Regina. Allan's comics and artwork are online at maycontainmonkeys.com.

  • Nope! Beginners are totally welcome. We start with fun, bite-size basics and build up to awesome comics!

  • Just a pencil and paper to get started! For Drawing Comics, I recommend a sketchbook and a few fine-tipped black pens (I like a 0.1 tip and a 1.5 tip). For Perspective Drawing you will want a ruler.
